I saw on pillowfort that someone posted a really nice set of prompts for developing your fan apprentice, and I wanted to share them here because I thought they'd be a nice way to start the community! Make your own post or reply in the comments, it's up to you! Although, I think maybe new posts because of the length? I don't know, I'm new here still.

The OP called it a blanket box because it's a posting prompt for pillowfort, and you use blankets to build a pillowfort, I believe. I've preserved their language. Source is here. Reposted with permission.

What's a Blanket Box?

A blanket box is a collection of ideas, prompts, and questions to help you build your fort! They all have their own theme, and this one is all about your fan apprentice!! To reply, make your own post/set of posts. Other blanket boxes can be found here.

The Blankets

1. What's their aura like? What things bring them to mind? What's their stance, their attitude like? What's their aesthetic?

Aliénor Ingibjörgsdottir is my apprentice! She's in her early to mid-thirties, 6'2" (so taller than most of the cast except Julian and Muriel) and lanky. Very monochrome in appearance- the type of pallor that needs more sun, dark eyes that are almost black and messy ink black curls. While she and Asra give each other haircuts when he's around, when he's away she usually gathers her hair in a fist above her shoulders and chops off excess with a knife. She dresses very practically, but finds Vesuvia a little warm for what she's used to, so others may feel she's not wearing enough for the weather.

Before the plague came, she was very musical and sang a lot. One of the consequences of Asra's deal was that she lost all the songs she knew, so one of the things Asra brings back from his travels is songs he's heard along the way. She does hum melodies that he never figures out, and it frustrates her that she can't put words to the sound.

Main routes are Nadia and Julian, and probably if a poly route existed she would be poly with the two of them. With Nadia she's a little more playful, teasing her back where she can, and with Julian she's a little more affectionately sarcastic, if that makes sense. Probably with the both of them she would gang up on Julian with Nadia.

Somewhat tangentially, Lucio does recognise her- but can't tell whether she is the same person whose face he recognises, because the woman he knew was very badly scarred and mute as well. If Asra's resurrection of her erased those aspects, no one's talking.

She sounds really interesting! I really like her design, and the detail about the songs is poignant and kind of heartbreaking. It's also really great to hear that someone else has a poly apprentice! (Although mine is dating Nadia and Asra.)

I'm a little confused about her being mute and also singing though? I wasn't aware that was possible.

Do you plan on doing fic or art for her? I'd love to hear more about her.

Haha, it's a bit of bait and switch. She is not the person Lucio thinks he knows, but she is related. There are two separate women. We don't know how the resurrection works so this is my wee attempt at a twist. The fact of the 'stolen body' and the missing memories is meant to confuse anyone who was at the palace at that time.

I also wondered if Julian would have been around the palace when Lucio became count, because he would have known the other woman and guessed the relation when Aliénor came to work with him during the plague. Basically if he was, Julian is the only person who could (and would be willing to) clarify because the scarred one left before Nadia came. His memory of her would have been futzed out by his deal with the Hanged Man, otherwise when he first meets the apprentice at the shop he would just think she had healed her scars somehow.

I don't art, and I don't fic very often, but I'm trying to write more!

What about your apprentice? I poked around your journal but didn't see anything.

Oh that's a really fun twist! I like it a lot. And if it doesn't work with canon, who cares? Our City Now.

If you ever end up writing with her, i'd love to see it!

And yeah, I don't have anything up yet. I'm new to the fandom as well as to dreamwidth, and while I have things in progress, I'm also working holiday retail so I don't have a lot of energy. I've almost finished my version of that prompt post, and I'll post it soon, but it's so long I'm tempted to make it its own post, depending on how much html dreamwidth comments support/how uncomfortably self-centered I feel about making my own post for it.

Ah, yeah, that's a real energy sapper. DW comments support html just fine and they'll display the raw code if there's something like a typo, so you can go back and edit missing carats and stuff. But it'd be good to post it as its own post too if it's long!

So, here we go. This is probably too hecking long, but i felt weird about posting it as its own post. I also skipped the last three questions because I can fit so much fic in those questions. And I'm gonna.

1. What's their name? Star sign? Favourite flower? Favourite food? What do they look like? How do they usually dress?

Name: November Rae Osinin, aka Nova Rae

Age: 24/26??? She was dead for two whole years, we’re not sure how old she is now.

Birthday: November 27, so she’s a Sagittarius

Favorite food: venison braised in wine and redcurrant jelly

Favorite drink: spiced chocolate

Favorite flowers: chrysanthemums

Nova Rae is of fairly average height, though shorter than all the currently romanceable love interests by at least half a head. She's still taller than Portia at least. She has Rose brunette hair (it was more auburn before she died) and sea-green eyes. She vastly prefers winter over summer. In the summer, she wears as little clothing as possible, and doesn't care where she got it, but in the winter she wears lots of richly knit fair isle sweaters, and gorgeous layered, pleated, or plaid long skirts, with little boots and fancy shawls. To quote Asra, "as soon as it gets cold, she grows a fashion sense."

I have an entire pinboard of things inspiring her wardrobe.

2. What outward impression do they give? What are the first things other people notice about them?

Most people meet her when she stops to help a passerby. Though she keeps her circle small, she’s very kind to everyone, and so most of the people in her neighborhood have a story about her sticking up for them or lending a hand. She’s loud, so you’re much more likely to hear her before you see her. Beyond that, people notice her smile, or her fashion sense or lack thereof, depending on the season. She’s well-liked, and people remember her from her outreach during the plague.

3. What's their aura like? What things bring them to mind? What's their stance, their attitude like? What's their aesthetic?

I’m keeping the canon rainbow aura because shiny, but before that her aura was aspen gold. She’s very bubbly, and has this way of drawing people to her, completely and irrevocably. Once you’re her person, you’re her person forever, and she’ll fight for you to the bitter end, and she’s sure you know this immediately. She also takes too much guilt onto herself, and gives too much of herself away.

Asra thinks of her when he has a warm mug in his hands, or when he touches particularly soft fabric or yarn, in the forests when wind blows through the trees, and during the first snow of each year.

Nadia thinks of her when the sunset is particularly pink, when she hears the rustle of book pages, whenever she bathes and uses bath salts instead of perfumed oils, whenever she finds herself pushing hard to be a better person.

Julian thinks of her when he hears someone sing particularly loudly, during sleepless and determined nights, when he sees the sunrise from the wrong end, when he’s got something to fight for.

4. How do they feel about the main 6 (Asra, Nadia, Julian, etc)? About their memories? About choices they've made or things they've said?

Asra: With her newfound memories, she's drawn to him all over again. Her first real love. Her best friend. She's sorry, Asra, for so many things.

Nadia: God, she loves Nadia. So, so much. She admires her fashion sense, her hair, her demeanor, her skills at ruling. She wants to be the person Nadia thinks she is. (Nadia wants her to realize she already is.)

Julian: oh, you hot, hot mess. She cares for him deeply, but wants him to figure out his life more than she wants to date him. If he ever figures out that he wants a piece of her heart, it's his for the taking, but he has to figure out that he wants it first.

Portia: Please god teach me your baking witchery. We can gossip the whole time I promise. It'll be great.

Muriel: she used to be a lot closer with Muriel before she died and mourns the loss of that closeness. It's nice to have a friend who understands that sometimes all you want is to breathe in the trees until you feel whole again, and she doesn't know how to get that relationship back.

Lucio: if she ever sees that smarmy goat again she'll wring his stupid neck.

Memories: It's good to have the memories she has back, but there's still a lot of holes. She tries not to let it stress her out.

Choices: Living without regret is hard. She’s kind of altruistic, and is still learning how to make choices that aren’t at her own expense, especially since it hurts the people she loves when she gets hurt. She blames herself for her own death. She chose to save Faust at the drop of a hat, but was much more skeptical about the other two devil’s bargains.

5. What route(s) did they take? What would their route look like? What 'flavours' would their route have? What choices could you make?

Nova Rae’s true route is a poly mush of Asra’s and Nadia’s. I’m still finalizing what happened from each route, but she was taken to the Lazaret twice. She was initially drawn to Nadia, but really came back to Asra after getting her memories back, so almost all of Nadia’s route is canon to her, with bits and pieces of Asra’s, like the cave, his Lazaret scene, the scene with his mark. She hasn’t been to Nopal since before she died, though.

Her time in the Arcana’s realms happened as per Nadia’s route, although she goes back for Asra’s parents at some point.

6. Do they/did they have a familiar? Any kinds of magic they're more/less attuned to? What's their fursona??

Before being reincarnated in the Fool’s body, her primary specialties were stitch magic and divination. She’s made everyone she’s ever cared about some sort of wearable protective charm, either by knitting, weaving, sewing, embroidery, something. Her divination method of choice used to be a set of runes, but she can’t find her set anymore. She has a sinking feeling they’re still in the sand at the Lazaret somewhere. She’s also fairly sensitive to other people’s auras.

Since coming back to life, she’s gotten a lot more powerful and a lot more versatile. She’s better with the Arcana then she’s ever been before, and she can do a lot more with seeking magic, as well as with wards and cleansing, but she could really do just about anything she put her mind to now. She’d like to put her mind to relearning her stitch magic.

She’s never had or felt the need for a familiar but she loves Faust so fucking much.

Her image animal is a butterfly, but her fursona is a wolf.
